A warm welcome to The Birley Academy!

I am very proud to be the Headteacher of The Birley Academy and feel honoured and privileged to be able to work with our pupils, parents, carers, colleagues and community to be a part of the team who are making Birley Academy a brilliant place to learn and work.

I am passionate about working with our staff in school, and with colleagues across L.E.A.D. Academy Trust to ensure that the education that we provide to our pupils is of the highest quality, studying a broad range of subjects complemented by a clear personal development and wider curriculum offer.

I don’t have a complicated view of what makes a brilliant school and I aim to keep things simple. At Birley, I will ensure that we keep focussed on maintaining a calm and orderly environment, having expectations of exceptional attendance, delivering the highest academic standards and encouraging every student to fulfil their potential in whichever areas their talents and interests may lie. Our pupils are brilliant young people and they deserve every opportunity to nurture and showcase their skills.

We have our five core values of Respect, Kindness, Courage, Integrity and Ambition – and as Headteacher I want to see every one of our pupils and staff demonstrate these each day – with recognition for those who regularly go above and beyond for our community.

Most importantly, as a parent myself, I recognise the huge responsibility that schools have to provide for the young people in our care and will do all that I can to make sure that every single pupil at The Birley Academy continues to be valued and cherished as an individual, and feels safe and supported in our school.

I look forward to sharing positive news with you on a regular basis and making The Birley Academy the school of choice in our region of Sheffield. I will share regular updates on our website, social media, and through Headteacher bulletins, and I look forward to meeting our parents, carers and the wider community at parents’ evenings and celebrations, performances and sporting events.

I do hope that the website gives you an insight into our school, and warmly invite visitors to our website to get in touch with us should you require any further information or would like to arrange a visit to our very wonderful school to see how we are #makingBirleybrilliant!

Kind regards

Mrs Victoria Hall

πŸ“š Saturday School for Year 11 – This Saturday, 14 March!

🌟We’re excited to offer four Saturday School sessions this weekend to support our Year 11 students as they continue preparing for their GCSEs. These sessions are a great opportunity for extra revision, specialist support, and coursework progress!
Here’s what’s on:

✏️ English
Students will revisit key content from the An Inspector Calls Literature paper and practise English Language Paper 2 (Questions 2–4) to strengthen their exam skills.

βž— Maths Foundation
A focused revision session using carefully selected exam questions based on Question Level Analysis (QLA) β€” targeting the areas where students most commonly lose marks.

πŸ› οΈ Resistant Materials (RM)
Coursework catch‑up session.

🍽️ Food Preparation & Nutrition
Coursework catch‑up session.

πŸ’‘ Please note: Coursework sessions are especially important β€” the work completed contributes directly to your child’s final GCSE grade.

We strongly encourage all Year 11 students to attend. These sessions offer valuable extra teaching time, personalised guidance, and the chance to boost confidence and exam performance.
Let’s keep working together to help our students shine! ✨

We held an assembly this afternoon reinforcing our values with our pupils and giving advice and guidance over keeping themselves safe and away from antisocial behaviour over the weekend.
Our pupils left site in a calm and orderly way this afternoon and were a credit to us on the tram as usual (with staff on in both directions) ☺️
We went a little further than usual this evening so took a quick selfie before coming back! Mr Child took himself on an even longer adventure getting off at Castle Square before heading back (we are going to work on his selfie skills) 🀣! #integrity #tramduty #teambirley

This afternoon I saw the amount of teachers out with the pupils making sure they’re all safe at the Birley tram stop. Great job. I’m glad my twins are coming to Y7 this year πŸ‘πŸ»
