We’re looking for a caring and proactive Student Support Officer to join our pastoral team at The Birley Academy.

You’ll be part of a supportive pastoral team, working with pupils who may be facing barriers to learning – from attendance difficulties to mental health challenges. Your work will involve providing one-to-one and small group support, liaising with staff and families, and helping pupils build the confidence and resilience they need to succeed.

What you’ll be doing:

• Supporting pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs.
• Providing targeted interventions for emotionally based school avoidance.
• Helping pupils reintegrate into school after absence.
• Supporting whole-school strategies to promote wellbeing and attendance.
• Working with families and external agencies to ensure pupils receive joined-up support.
